The IMesh Toolkit

An architecture and toolkit for distributed subject gateways

The IMesh Toolkit project was funded under the NSF/JISC International Digital Libraries Initiative. The project was funded for a period of three years from September 1999.

The IMesh Toolkit project evolved out of discussions within the IMesh community which was set up to encourage international collaboration amongst subject gateways. More information on IMesh can be found on the IMesh homepage or the JISC web page for the project.

The project will build on existing subject gateway software to develop a configurable, reusable and extensible toolkit for subject gateway providers. A complementary research strand will consider issues of relevance in the distributed, international subject gateway environment, including metadata sharing and reuse. The toolkit will support the research activity and the research activity will guide the development of the toolkit.

For more information about the IMesh Toolkit Project, see the project partner pages, follow the links on the left, or send mail to imesh-toolkit@imesh.org

An archive of the IMesh Toolkit project is available on the Internet Archive.

UKOLN staff who worked on this project were Rachel Heery, Monica Duke (nee Bonett), Richard Waller and Greg Tourte.
